2.Power exchange (PE) is the consensual dynamic in which one partner (the submissive) cedes control, authority, or decision-making to another partner (the dominant). Power exchange is the foundation of D/s and M/s relationships. It exists on a spectrum from light (power exchange only during scenes) to total power exchange (TPE), where the dynamic governs all aspects of daily life. All power exchange is consensual and negotiated; the submissive retains the ultimate power to end the dynamic.
