Risk-Aware
n. core concepts
1.Approaching BDSM activities with full knowledge and acknowledgment of the risks involved.
2.Risk-aware describes an approach to BDSM practice in which participants are fully informed about the physical, psychological, and emotional risks of their chosen activities. Being risk-aware means understanding what can go wrong, taking steps to mitigate harm, and accepting remaining risks as informed, consenting adults. Risk-awareness is emphasized in RACK (Risk-Aware Consensual Kink) as an alternative to demanding all kink be 'safe' — recognizing that some risk is inherent and that honesty about it is more ethical than pretending otherwise.
