Sadism
n. roles & identities
1.Deriving erotic pleasure from causing consensual pain, suffering, or humiliation.
2.Sadism (the 'S' in S&M) refers to deriving erotic pleasure from causing pain, humiliation, or suffering to a consenting partner. A sadist enjoys administering sensations or experiences that produce a reaction in their partner. In ethical BDSM practice, sadism is always consensual — the sadist only acts within the limits negotiated with their partner and stops when a safe word is used. Many sadists feel a deep sense of responsibility and care for their partners; the power to cause pain comes with the responsibility to do so safely.
