Consent Violation
n. core concepts
1.Any act performed without explicit consent or in violation of previously negotiated limits.
2.A consent violation occurs when someone engages in an act that was not explicitly consented to, ignores a safe word, exceeds negotiated limits, or otherwise acts without the full informed agreement of their partner. Consent violations range from accidental boundary breaches (which require acknowledgment and repair) to deliberate acts of assault. The kink community takes consent violations seriously; many community spaces have accountability processes and may exclude individuals who violate consent. If a consent violation is criminal in nature, community accountability does not replace reporting to law enforcement.
