Soft Limit
n. core concepts
1.A boundary that is negotiable and may be explored with the right partner or circumstances.
2.A soft limit is a boundary that a person is hesitant about or not fully comfortable with, but which may be negotiable under the right circumstances — with sufficient trust, experience, or negotiation. Soft limits contrast with hard limits, which are absolute. Soft limits should be communicated clearly and never pushed without explicit consent. Over time, some soft limits may become comfortable (and no longer limits) or may solidify into hard limits. Respecting soft limits is part of building the trust that allows them to potentially shift.
